The truth about food: A series on how diet influences your health.
NEW DELHI: People across the globe are increasingly being told to eat healthy food these days. But the plethora of new reports about what is good for health and what is not has left a majority of people a little confused. To clear doubts, Discovery Channel will bring up a new five-part series titled ‘The Truth About Food’ beginning July 24. Described as the biggest ever undertaking of its kind, the series is basically a televised investigation, delivering for the first time real and provable evidence of just how diet influences every area of an individual’s life. These experiments will reveal what food items to eat to lose weight and also tell how edibles influence everything from an individual’s mood and fertility to achieving competitive edge and increasing his or her life span. The series will explain the reason why a large-bodied person has a high metabolic rate. According to a study conducted in Denmark, the more calcium a person includes in his diet, the less body fat he will have. Consequently, he will also weigh less. There is great news for cheese lovers as the study points out that not all the calories in dairy products count. However, this is not an excuse to start high fat diets as that can easily lead to obesity. The series will explain why the good old tomatoes have a magic component that protects the skin from ultra-violet rays. This fact does not in any way suggest that a person should stop using sunscreen, but he should increase the intake of tomatoes in his daily diet. Children’s diet chart will also be under the scanner as the series recommends that sugary food must be avoided. And snacks for the little ones should be restricted. Viewers will also be informed what children should eat as they grow up so as to have a good effect on their mind, body and behaviour.
