7 die in building collapse

MUMBAI: Seven persons were killed and scores of others feared trapped under the debris of a wing of a seven-storey building which collapsed in a Mumbai suburb on Wednesday.

The wing of “Lakshi Chhaya,” a 25-year-old building at Babhai Naka, in the northwestern Borivali, collapsed around 8 p.m., with residents in the other wing feeling tremors.

The collapsed wing had a restaurant, a dispensary and several shops on the ground floor. Nobody knows how many patrons, patients and customers were there and how many residents were in apartments on upper storeys.
