Madkekar loses

NEW DELHI: The sixth-seeded Aditya Madkekar went down 2-6, 7-5, 5-7 to Abdullah Magdas of Kuwait in the pre-quarterfinals of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Teheran.

The other Indians in the fray, Kiran Nandakumar and qualifier Rohan Gajjar, could not get past the first round.

In doubles, the champions last week, Madkekar and Gajjar went down 2-6, 2-6 to the top-seeded Syrym Abdukhalikov of Kazakhstan and Siarhei Betau of Belarus in the quarterfinals.
