Two 110 MW units were synchronised on March 29 and June 16
JAIPUR: The third steam turbine unit of 110 MW capacity in the Dholpur gas-thermal power plant of Rajasthan will start power production by October this year. Two 110 MW units, which were synchronised on March 29 and June 16 respectively, are expected to begin power production after receiving gas supply from the Oil and Natural Gas Commission in September this year. The Chairman and Managing Director of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, N.S. Chaudhary, said here on Thursday that the power project had made a significant achievement by conducting hydro-test of the heat recovery steam generator of the first unit at a high pressure of 157.50 kg per sq. cm on Wednesday. Mr. Chaudhary said the gas would be used as a fuel for the first two units of the plant and the heat generated by it would be accumulated and used for running the third unit. “Consequently, there will hardly be any expenditure on fuel for the third unit, nor will it pollute the atmosphere,” he said. The CMD said the boiler, weighing 2,500 metric tonnes, had 4,366 joints of high pressure and 727 joints of low pressure. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), which constructed the boiler in its Trichy workshop, started its installation in the Dholpur plant in July last year. Mr. Chaudhary said the hydro-test of the second boiler would be conducted at August-end. A batch of 20 engineers of the Nigam have received special training in NTPC’s gas power station at Kawas in Gujarat for operating the Dholpur plant.
