Belgaum: The district administration is preparing for celebrating Independence Day on August 15 in a grand manner.

According to a release here on Thursday, six committees have been set up to organise the programmes on the day. The celebrations will commence with offering prayers at all the temples, mosques, churches and gurudwaras in the district between 6 and 7 a.m. This will be followed by flag-hoisting ceremonies in all educational institutions and government offices between 7.15 a.m. and 8.30 a.m. — Staff Correspondent
