DAVANGERE: Each branch of the State Bank of India will adopt a girl child from a poor family and will look after it till she settles in life. All branches of SBI in Karnataka will soon pick such children as part of its social obligation. The SBI will adopt a poor child that has lost her father or mother or both of them in accident or owing to some other tragedy. G. Narasimha Murthy, manager, SBI, said that over 100 SHGs that had been functioning well would be given assistance under the finance linkage programme of the bank. Four branches of the bank in Davangere will adopt a girl child each on Friday.
