Disaster readiness reviewed

NEW DELHI: Traditional wisdom of communities should be incorporated to add value to disaster management, said P. Jyoti Rao, member of the National Disaster Management Authority, at a national-level meeting of the Indian Red Cross Society that concluded here early this week. The two-day meeting was aimed at reviewing disaster preparedness and response activities in the country. Underlining the need for participation of communities in micro-level planning, Ms. Rao said the Authority was drafting guidelines to help communities affected by disaster.
