RDOs entrusted with the task of fixing land value Land to be divided into 15 categories for fixing the value
Minister for Registration S. Sarma
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The process of fixing fair value for land will be completed by August, Minister for Registration S.Sarma has said. Replying to questions in the Assembly on Thursday, Mr. Sarma said that the Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) have been entrusted with the task of fixing the land value. They had been directed to divide the land into 15 categories for fixing the fair value. The proposals of the RDOs will be placed before the taluk sabhas. The final value will be fixed after incorporating the suggestions of the taluk sabhas and it will be notified. Digital printers have been installed in 15 sub-registrar offices in 14 districts to provide copies of documents without delay. Such printers will be installed in all sub-registrar offices this financial year itself, he said. Computerisation of the sub-registrar offices will be completed in four months. The rules for document registration have been changed according to the provisions of the Registration Act amended by the Lok Sabha on September 24, 2001, to end ‘benami’ land deals. Those registering partition deeds need not affix their photos on the documents, he said. Power Minister A.K. Balan said that the Koodamkulam-Madakkathara 400 kV power highway will be formed only after evolving a consensus among the public. The fears of rubber planters that they will be forced to fell a large number of trees were unfounded. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited had conducted a survey and a feasibility study. The alignment, which was finalised by the previous UDF Government, has not been changed. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had already held a meeting to allay the fears of the public. The Government will go ahead with the work only after taking the public into confidence. The highway was imperative to meet the increasing power needs of the State, especially the Smart City and other projects proposed in Kochi, Mr.Balan said. Recruitment to permanent posts in Consumerfed had been handed over to the Public Service Commission. No appointments have been made by the LDF Government, Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran said.
