Man beaten to death

NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old man allegedly caught red-handed while trying to commit burglary in a shop at Patel Nagar here was beaten to death in the early hours of Thursday.

According to the police, the incident took place around 4 a.m. when some labourers sleeping on the pavement along Naraina Road noticed two young men trying to break into a shop. They overpowered one of them and beat him up. Later, shopkeeper Salauddin also reached the spot.

The injured, later identified as Deepak, was taken to Lohia Hospital where he was declared brought dead. The hospital authorities informed the police about the incident.

Investigations revealed that Deepak, a sweeper who lived in Ranjeet Nagar, along with his friend Rajender was allegedly trying to commit burglary when he was caught and thrashed to death.
