HYDERABAD: Over 119 passengers were stranded for hours after a Spice Jet flight in which they were travelling landed under emergency conditions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Begumpet early on Thursday after it developed a technical snag mid-air. The pilot of the Boeing 391 Hyderabad-Ahmedabad-Jaipur flight detected a technical glitch minutes after it took off from the runway around 6 a.m. and landed safely as staffers were kept on standby. All the passengers on board were safe. The aircraft was later towed to the taxiway for a thorough inspection. Spice Jet spokesperson Ajay Jasra said a separate flight was arranged and passengers shifted to their respective destinations at 11.30 a.m. All measures were taken to avoid inconvenience to passengers and refreshments served to them. Passengers argued with the staff in the airport for not providing information on flight departure as cancellation . “All our plans got affected because of the delay,” said a passenger Praveen Rao. Passenger Sameera, said it was the responsibility of the authorities to examine the aircraft before takeoff. Airport Director R. K. Singla said the incident occurred when the flight was about to take off from the runway. “We don’t know the technical problems that led to the delay,” he added.
