TIRUPUR: A special police team on Thursday arrested seven persons on the charge of stealing copper rolls from 12 wind power generators at Kethanur, Maanasipalayam, Varapatty and Thutharipalayam in Palladam region. The police have recovered 1,100 kg of copper bars and wires. The arrested were Habeef Rahman (30) of Chozhamadevi; Sekar alias Senthil Kumar (28) of Thumbalapatti; Thangaraj (39) of Pottikkampalayam; Chandrasekar (37) of Kanakkaiyan Thottam; Thambi alias Duraisamy (28) of Vedapatti; Dharmaraj (32) of Vedapatti and Muthupandi (27) of Pethamppampatty. Kamanaickenpalayam Inspector N. Rajaram told reporters that the gang had struck early in the morning at wind mills. After climbing atop a wind mill (a small staircase is available) and turning off it and the sub-station, they had cut the copper cables.
