Pensioners to get benefit soon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All pensioners will get the one-rank one-pension benefit before this year end, Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has said.
Replying to a submission of K.C.Venugopal in the Assembly on Thursday, Dr. Isaac said that the Accountant-General has informed the Government that 500 applications were being processed a day and all applications will be cleared by this year-end. As many as 2,894 applications were cleared during the past 10 months, he said.
In reply to the submission of Simon Britto, Chief Minister V.S.Achuthanandan said that after completing the socio-economic survey, the Government would consider the issue of altering the reservation norms of the Anglo-Indians and Latin Catholics.
