BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday rejected a bail application by Mukram Khan, a scrap dealer who has been accused by the Bhadravati police of conspiring with several others to create communal disturbances. State Public Prosecutor S. Dore Raju submitted that the Bhadravati Old Town police had this year seized four gelatine sticks, eight detonators, five feet of safety wire, half a kilogram of iron nails and chemical powder, which can be used to make bombs, from Khan’s residence. He said Khan, who is absconding, wanted to foment communal clashes by taking advantage of a dispute between two communities at Kaji Mohalla in Bhadravati. He said the bomb-making material was seized by the Sub-Inspector of Bhadravati Old Town police station and cases were registered against Khan and others under Sections 4 and 5 of the Indian Explosive Substances Act.
