DGP appears before court
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The police on Friday informed the Karnataka High Court that they would take all steps to ensure that non-bailable warrants (NBWs) issued by the courts are served expeditiously.
The police also said that they would put in place a mechanism for serving of NBWs and urged the court to give them a month’s time to serve warrants on people living in Bangalore city and three months for those living outside the city.
These submissions were made by the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police K.R. Sreenivasan, who along with Bangalore Commissioner of Police N. Achut Rao and other senior police officials, appeared before the court.
Justice N. Kumar had asked Mr. Sreenivasan to appear before the court after he noticed during the last hearing that warrants and even NBWs issued by the High Court remained unserved.
