Row over ‘recall’ resolution

ONGOLE: The Chirala Municipal Council’s resolution urging the government to recall Municipal Commissioner S. Venkatakrishna has become controversial.
District Collector K. Devanand felt that the resolution need not be honoured as it defies the principles of natural justice and said he would recommend to the government to cancel the resolution.
But the council, which met on Friday, witnessed acrimonious scenes with councillors accusing Chairperson Syamala Kumari of failing to get the resolution implemented.
The Congress party captured the municipality by winning 26 out of 33 wards while the Telugu Desam Party won five, the BJP and the Mahajan Party won one ward each.
