dated July 21, 1957: Bombay Varsity centenary

The principal goal of education is to provide an integrated way of life and this should not be lost sight of by educationists and students, declared Mr. Y.B. Chavan, Chief Minister of Bombay, while speaking at the centenary day celebrations of the University of Bombay on July 18. He said, “Universities are the home of intellectual adventure. We live in a world of experimentation where new values are being evolved. But at the back of all this experimentation there is the desire for progress.” The function was attended, among others, by Mr. K.M. Munshi, former Governor of Uttar Pradesh, and State Ministers. Mr. Mangaldas Pakvasa, former Chancellor, addressing the gathering, hoped the university would maintain its past glorious traditions.
