SBT invites entries for awards

Carry a cash prize of Rs. 15,001

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has invited nominations for its annual awards for short story, poetry, children’s literature and reports of human interest published in Malayalam dailies.

The awards in each of the above categories carry a cash prize of Rs.15,001, in addition to a memento, an SBT press release said on Friday.

Books that can be nominated should have been first published in 2006.

The authors themselves, the publishers, literary organisations, libraries, or readers can nominate books for the awards. Books need not be sent with the nominations.

For the award for human interest stories (reports), the entries have to come from the journalists concerned.

The submission should include the original press clipping and two copies of the story.

A journalist can send up to two entries. He/she should attach his/her resume authenticated by the competent authority of the newspaper with the submission. The resume should contain details such as the name of the newspaper in which the article was published, date of publication and name and address of the journalist.

The nominations should reach the Chief Manager, Official Languages Department, State Bank of Travancore, Head Office, Thiruvananthapuram 695 012 on or before August 12. The cover containing the entry should be superscripted ‘SBT Malayala Sahithya-Madhyama Awards 2007.’
