2 CRPF battalions to tackle nuclear, chemical disasters

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has raised two new battalions to deal with nuclear and chemical disasters. The battalions will be stationed at Pune in Maharashtra and Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

The CRPF has also set up a centre for training battalions dedicated for disaster management at Latur in Maharashtra.

Other existing battalions of the CRPF will be trained in disaster management in a phased manner.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP-Training) P.G. Gopinathan Nair revealed this at the passing out parade of the 114th batch of CRPF recruits trained at the Recruit Training Centre at Pallipuram.
