VISAKHAPATNAM: ‘Operation Duryodhana’ has given a big break to hero Srikanth to prove that he could play challenging roles with élan. He is confident that he will no longer be typecast in comedy hero or in family oriented subjects. He was in the city in connection with the 50-day success meet of the film. “I have found a way out to prove myself that I can play mass characters. I knew it was a big risk. Had the film bombed at the box office, I wouldn’t have been able to get over the failure. But the gamble paid off,” he told this correspondent on the sidelines of the success meet. Variety inspires
“Film goers want variety, and audiences in Tamil Nadu are encouraging heroes playing totally different characters. I drew inspiration from Vikram, Surya and other Tamil heroes to play the role and my belief proved right that Telugu audiences would also encourage variety. Telugu heroes were, however, shying away from accepting such roles and restricting themselves to commercial films.” he says. “I utilised the opportunity to give my career a new direction. ‘Operation Duryodhana’ is my 93rd film, ‘Shankar Dada Zindabad’ and ‘Yama Gola’ are ready for release and four others are in the pipeline,” he says. “My first film ‘People’s encounter’ was shot in Araku. Many of my films were shot in Vizag,” he said when asked about his association with the city.
