Solving problems: Minister for Horticulture and in-charge of Belgaum district Shashikant A. Naik responding to the grievances of the people in Belgaum on Saturday.
Belgaum: District in-charge Minister Shashikant A. Naik on Saturday asked the district administration and Belgaum City Corporation to properly utilise funds released for the beautification of the city in view of the Government planning to organise “Vishwa Kannada Sammelan” in September. Responding to grievances at a mass contact programme here, he said there was no dearth of funds and all works taken up as part of the sammelan should be completed at the earliest. Ramesh L. He said that the Government had released Rs.10 crore for various development works and beautification of the city. He warned the officials against compromising on quality while implementing development works and promised to get more funds. He said that the corporation was trying to redress the grievances of the people in a phased manner. Mr. Kudachi said that efforts were on to implement the Rs. 130-crore drinking water project with financial aid from Asian Development Bank. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy would be approached once again to use his good office to get early clearance for the project, he said. Mr. Patil said that the Deputy Commissioner should take action against the officials and contractors for substandard roadwork. Report
Dr. Torgal said that he had sought a report on all road works taken up by the belgaum City Corporation and the Public Works Department and promised to initiate action based on it.
