An IIIT will also come up at Basar by 2008 Admissions to Gurukulam through an entrance test
ADILABAD: A three-member committee comprising officials from Higher Education and Intermediate Education departments on Saturday visited three gram panchayats in Kagaznagar mandal to assess the feasibility of establishment of the premier 21st Century Gurukulam. Ashutosh Mishra, Secretary, Higher Education, K.C. Reddy, Chairman, Higher Education Committee, and D. Chakrapani, Commissioner, Intermediate Education, accompanied by Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa and Collector Ahmad Nadeem, visited Areguda, Gannaram and Koyavagu gram panchayats to see for themselves the Government land available for the purpose. Later, they told reporters that 50 acres of land was available at Areguda, 33 acres at Gannaram and 60 acres at Kyavagu. They would recommend a suitable place for establishment of the institution soon. The institution would begin functioning in 2008, they said. Other initiatives
On the Government’s initiatives on development of higher education, the officials said besides the 21st Century Gurukulam at Kagaznagar, an IIIT will also come up at Basar by 2008. These institutes would train rural youth from the district in information technology and computer science. Admissions to the Gurukulam will be based on an entrance examination, they added.
