Centre to depute team

Thiruvananthapuram: The Centre will depute a team of officials to the State immediately to assess the damage, including crop loss, caused by the monsoon. Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who conveyed this to Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala over telephone on Saturday, said steps would be taken to provide financial assistance to the State on the basis of the team’s report. — Special Correspondent
