IT firms should adopt taluks: Sudarshan
Bangalore: V.R. Sudarshan on Friday suggested that the Government make it mandatory for information technology and biotechnology firms to involve themselves in the development of the backward northern districts of the State to help remove regional disparities.
Raising the issue in the Legislative Council, the Congress member argued that specific responsibilities should be fixed on such companies to trigger growth in backward areas. They should be asked to adopt some of the backward taluks, especially in the border areas, for development.
Y.S.V. Datta (JD-S) said the companies were not employing an adequate number of Kannadigas.
The Government should not permit companies to set up units in the State if they were not willing to provide jobs to local people. — Special Correspondent
