Wealth case trial adjourned
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The disproportionate assets cases against J. Jayalalithaa, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK chief, and four others were adjourned to September 22, 2007.
The Special Court here is hearing the case against Jayalalithaa, her friend Sasikala Natarajan, J. Illavarasi, T.T.V. Dinakaran and V. Sudhagaran.
Special Judge A.T. Munnoli adjourned the case on Saturday after Special Public Prosecutor B.V. Acharya said the Supreme Court, which had stayed further proceedings of the Special Court, heard the matter on Friday. He said the Supreme Court had adjourned the case by seven weeks.
The Special Court posted the next hearing to September 22 and accepted the applications by all the five accused, including Ms. Jayalalithaa, seeking exemption from appearing before it.
