Strike hits water supply

KOLAR: People living in various municipal limits in the district, including Kolar city, felt the heat of indefinite strike by pourakarmikas as the agitating workers struck work of water supply on Saturday. The pourakarmikas are demanding regularisation of service and implementation of Fifth Pay Commission scales. According to reports, the pourakarmikas staged dharanas and processions in support of their demands. At Bangarpet, they staged a torch light procession on Friday evening. Their counterparts at Gauribidanur presented a broom procession condemning the Government’s apathy towards their woes. — Staff Correspondent
