Three more in race for VP poll

New Delhi: Three more persons on Saturday joined the fray for the Vice-Presidential election on August 10, taking the total number of aspirants to 15.

Those who filed their papers are A. Thajnisa and A. Manithan, both from Tamil Nadu, and Sanjay Saoji Despande from Maharashtra, Rajya Sabha sources said.

The filing of nomination papers will continue till Monday and the UPA-Left and NDA candidates are likely to file their nomination papers that day. While scrutiny will take place on July 24, the last date for withdrawal is July 26.

Polling, if necessary, will take place on August 10, and counting the same evening. — PTI
