Baig, Sandeep, Vamshi excel

HYDERABAD: Good bowling by Ayub Baig (six for 96) and a century by V. Sandeep (162 not out, 23x4, 5x 6) were the highlights for Vijay Hanuman CC in its drawn encounter against Khalsa in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship match here on Saturday. In another match, Vamshi Raghava (102, 10x4) hogged the limelight for Continental in its drawn match with Zinda Tilismath.

Easy for Gymkhana XI

Gymkhana XI scored an easy 5-1 win over Arfat XI in the Salar-e-Millat Challenge Cup prize money football tournament at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium here. The winner led 2-0 at the break.

Eric and Andrews scored two goals apiece and Abdul netted a solo for the winner while, Ibrahim reduced the margin.

14 share lead

Top seed Dasari Sai Srinivas, along with 13 others, are jointly in lead with three points at the end of the third round in the two-day Andhra Pradesh Open chess tournament being held at NTR Stadium, Gudivada, near Vijayawada on Saturday.

Gudivada Municipal Corporation chairman Lanka Dasari Prasad, incharge tasildar Murali Krishna and women International Master from Gudivada Lakshmi Sahiti inaugurated the tournament.
