HYDERABAD: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) can as well be the epitome of bureaucratic Red tapism, if one were to track the movement of a complaint against dumping of debris by the municipal officials themselves. After more than eight months, the electronic copy of the complaint is still travelling in the labyrinthine corridors of the GHMC, but it has not been attended to so far. The story begins in November 2006, when Mohammed Habibuddin, president of Public Welfare Society lodged a complaint on the GHMC website (registration number 06CAL12937) pointing out that the authorities had dumped construction material on the Amjad Dawla Bagh road at Misri Gunj while taking up repair works on an open nala in the locality. Even after the Commissioner referred it for necessary action to Additional Commissioner Health and Sanitation on November 30, 2006 and seeking a report of the action taken, the complaint remains unattended.
