Kadri Mills HSS routs Elgi

Coimbatore: Kadri Mills HSS thrashed Elgi MHSS 65-4 in the opening fixture of the 53rd District-level basketball tournament for mini boys for the S. Venkatakrishnan Trophy, organised by the YMCA Basketball Club, at the YMCA courts here on Saturday.

The results: Kadri Mills HSS 65 bt Elgi MHSS 4; Rajalakshmi SC ‘B’ 26 bt PSG Saravajana HSS 11.

The Coimbatore District Athletic Association will conduct a District-level athletic championship for junior boys and girls at the PRS grounds here on July 30 and 31.

More than 400 students are expected to participate in the meet that will serve as selection trials for the inter-district championship to be held at Karur from August 17 to 19.

Sanjay Srivatsav of Kendriya Vidyalaya and J. Diwakar of Perks MHSS emerged joint individual champions in the junior category (15-17 years) of the LA Group inter-school swimming championship at the Jenney Club in Coimbatore on Friday.

Individual champions: Boys: Juniors: 15-17 years: Sanjay Srivatsav (KV) & J. Diwakar (Perks). 13-14: Dhruva (CIRS). Sub-juniors: 11-12: N. Karthik (Stanes). 9-10: Vishak (Stanes). 6- 8: Yashwanth Krishna.
