The judiciary should intervene and issue directives in the garbage issue in the Kochi Corporation. The lethargy on the part of the executive authority should always invite the judicial intervention. It is welcome. Such interventions should be there whenever there are lapses. The executive exceeding its authority should also be checked. A garbage treatment plant should be set up at Brahmapuram on a war-footing. The irony is that even the ruling front is agitating against the plant being set up at Brahmapuram. The task ahead is to find a permanent solution to the issue. The dumping of garbage on the roads should be stopped. V.P. Ramesan Vadakkumpurath Pragmatic solution
The Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) crisis is getting grave. Further delay in finding a solution will affect the environment and health and safety of the people in the area. From endless public meetings, agitations and judicial interventions we have to move towards pragmatic solutions. The waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram should be set up immediately. The plant should be meticulously planned and implementation by the Kochi Corporation. L.N. Sethumadhavan Karikkamuri Cross Road Send in your mails to The Hindu, N.H. Bypass, P.O.
