Training skills in counselling

Coimbatore: Divyodaya, an inter-religious centre in the city, will hold a training programme on ‘Basic Skills in Counselling’ from July 28. Besides explaining what counselling is all about, the sessions during the programme will give the trainees an insight into the different schools of counselling, personal qualities of a counsellor, various stages in the counselling process and also aspects such as listening, empathy building, providing information and advice, problem-solving, body language and client-centred approach.

The participants can be M.Sc Psychology, Masters in Social Work and Masters in Business Administration students, school and college teachers, animators, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, activists from non-Governmental organisations and social workers. Those interested in undergoing training should register on or before July 27.
