BANGALORE: “My husband must return the same way he left — with full respect. I do not want him to come back with the charges still against him,” Firdaus Arshiya, wife of Indian doctor Mohammed Haneef, told The Hindu on Sunday. “Besides, his deportation has not been officially confirmed yet,” she said. Ms. Arshiya was reacting to media reports that Dr. Haneef might be deported, apparently due to lack of evidence against him. Ms. Arshiya said she had not discussed this issue with her husband. About whether she was in touch with Dr. Haneef’s lawyers, she replied in the positive. She, however, said she did not discuss the issues they would raise during the August 8 hearing in a Brisbane court on the cancellation of her husband’s visa.
