It will also demand amendment to Article 371 Team will seek statutory status to HKDB
GULBARGA: A delegation of the Hyderabad Karnataka Janapara Sangharsha Samiti headed by its president Lakshman Dasti will leave for Bangalore to meet Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and other leaders to press for the long pending demands, including the establishment of a central varsity in Gulbarga, and amendment to Article 371 of the Constitution to provide special reservation in education and employment avenues for backward regions and other demands. Mr. Dasti told presspersons here on Monday that the delegation would consist of representatives from different sections of society from Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal and Bellary districts. Their main objective would be to highlight the need for establishing the central university in Gulbarga and urging the State Government to lead one more delegation to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil to press for early amendment to Article 371 of the Constitution to provide special reservation in education and employment avenues for the people of the backward districts in the State. He said the delegation would press the Government to provide statutory status to Hyderabad Karnataka Development Board (HKDB). He said the HKDB should be governed by special rules and an expert committee should be appointed to suggest the works to be taken up by it.
