Animal skins seized

PALANI: The police seized tanned tiger and spotted deer skins during a surprise raid at Pethanaickenpatti village near here on Monday.

Five persons, Subramani (48), Eli alias Raja (29), O. Selvam (35), Subhash (18) and Sunil (15), were arrested. The police, on routine patrol duty, found five persons with a gunny bag waiting near a bus stand at Pethanaickenpatti village.

On checking the bag, they found the skins. The arrested had hunted the animals in Thiruvannamalai last week and tried to smuggle them to Kerala. — Staff Reporter
