dated July 24, 1957 : Ceylon Indians problem

Prime Minister Nehru has declined to set any definite date for the settlement of the problem of Indians in Ceylon. In the Lok Sabha on July 23, a member had asked the Prime Minister, “May I know whether it is hoped that the problem will be settled in the near future as a result of discussions between our Prime Minister and the Prime Minister of Ceylon?” Mr. Nehru replied, “I cannot give any kind of assurance as to when it will be settled.”
