SIT, Kariapatti in last four

Andipatti: Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti entered the semifinals of the Anna University Zone IX Inter-Engineering College kabaddi tournament organised by Bharat Niketan Engineering College, defeating Vikram Engineering College, Madurai 41-14 at Andipatti on Monday.

Ganesh Babu wins

S. Ganesh Babu of Thiagarajar College won the boys’ under-25 title in the State-level chess tournament at Madurai on Sunday.

State women’s basketball

Twenty-eight teams, including the defending champion, Southern Railway, Chennai, SRM Rising Star Basketball Club, Chennai, Madras National BC, NLC BC, Neyveli, Annamalai University and SAI BC, Salem will be participating in the Tamil Nadu State women’s basketball championship for Dr. Dharmamval Namashivayam Trophy, organised by Sivagangai District Basketball Association, which will get under way at Karaikudi on Wednesday (July 25).
Junior boys’ chess

Shri T.P. Textiles 36th TN State junior (under-19) boys’ chess championship for Ramakrishnan memorial Trophy and 21st under-19 girls’ championship for Rajamani memorial Trophy, organised by Rajapalayam Chess Club and Virudhunagar District Chess Association, will get under way at Rajapalayam on Wednesday (July 25).
