BANGALORE: Group songs, dances and solo singing by Nidhi Menon, the best singer, marked the junior school annual prize distribution day held at Bishop Cotton Girls’ High School on Friday. Justice H. G. Ramesh of High Court of Karnataka was the chief guest. He along with the principal, Princess Franklyn, gave away general proficiency prizes as well as special prizes to students. Mr. Ramesh spoke on the crucial role of parents in moulding the character and building the future of their wards. School brings about all-round development — moral, intellectual and spiritual, he added. He said he was able to say this with confidence because his daughter was a student of the school. Mr. Ramesh told the parents to spend quality time with their wards. Meritorious students from Class I to IV received the general proficiency prizes. Navina Nitin bagged the Carmel Joseph Cup for the best all-rounder, while Antara Kulkarni received the OGA Prize for academic progress in Class IV. Barton House walked away with the Lobo Cup for the inter-house singing competition and Foley House won the inter-house Bible quiz. Nidhi Menon was awarded the best soloist of the school. The variety entertainment programme included a group song, the old classic “My grandfather’s clock” and a dance presented by the students to Bob Fix’s composition “Take my healing to the nation, bind their broken hearts with love”. Ms. Franklyn welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest. Lucelle Mascarenhas presented the junior school report. Investiture
