Nike launches exclusive football website

Staff Reporter

Chennai: Nike India recently launched a website exclusively for footballers and football fans in the country. A bonus feature of the launch was the announcement of the ‘Where’s the next’ football event to find a young outstanding footballer to be part of an eleven member team from Asia, which will be trained at FC Barcelona by its coaches. The team will also play against the FC Barcelona youth team and be able to watch the FC Barcelona team in action.

The Nike India initiative is open to footballers in the 15 to 17 age group. Aspirants are required to post a one-minute video displaying their football skills on www.nikefootball.in along with their names and other personal details.

The top 10 footballers chosen on the basis of these videos will be taken to Delhi where they will attend a grand final. Indian football team captain Baichung Bhutia will select one youth from the final 10.

In a press release, Mr. Bhutia said he was glad that Nike is fuelling the passion and enthusiasm for football in India.
