Sewerage workers to go on strike
Staff Reporter
Hyderabad: Routine drainage work in the twin cities will come to a stand still with sewerage workers deciding to strike work from Tuesday. This follows failure of conciliatory talks held by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Staff and Workers Union with the Labour Commissioner and the Board managing director here on Monday. “All the 550 contract workers will stay off work. Even the regular workers would join the strike in solidarity”, said K. Satyanarayana, Union general secretary. Board MD, K. Jawahar Reddy, said a decision on the workers demand could not be taken so quickly as a writ was pending in the High Court.
