Ban Ki Moon welcomes Pratibha’s election

New York: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon has welcomed the election of Pratibha Patil as the first woman President of India, his spokesperson said on Monday.

The Secretary-General generally sends a congratulatory message at the time of inauguration and if past practice is followed, he would do so when Ms. Patil formally takes over the post, the spokesperson said. — PTI
