Chennai: Rohini Rau has become the first Indian woman sailor to be ranked in the ISAF World rankings. After her participation in the Europa Cup, World Cup series and the World Championships — her three-month tour was spread across France, Netherlands, Germany and Portugal — she has achieved a ranking of 341. Rohini, who competed in the Radial class, has been sponsored for most part of her career by SDAT and YAI. Rohini’s younger brother Ajay represented India in the Olympic laser class in the Europa Cup and the World series regattas. In a four-month tour, he competed in Italy, France, Holland and Germany. Ajay is sponsored by the Mittal Champions Trust.
