Golden Jubilee fete at college

KOCHI: Mahatma Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Jancy James inaugurated the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Department of English at St. Teresa’s College here on Tuesday.

In her inaugural address, Dr. James recalled the days she had spent on the campus both as a student and a teacher. She said that her alma mater had played a key role in her career.

Dr. James expressed gratitude to her teachers for their outstanding support and care extended to her, as a student on the campus for five years.

Lida Jacob, former Health Secretary, said that the teachers of the college had provided an inspiring support to her during her days on the campus. Ms. Jacob said that the college had a rich past and it continues to be a centre of excellence in all fields.

Sr. Christabelle, Principal, said that the department would organise various academic and cultural programmes, as part of the year-long jubilee celebrations. She said that hundreds of former teachers and students would attend these programmes.
