Use of IT: panel lauds Krishnagiri’s role

Tracking out-of-school children, filing petitions online hailed

Krishnagiri: The Public Accounts Committee of the Tami Nadu Legislative Assembly appreciated the district administration for implementing Information Technology in various projects.

The panel led by chairman K.R. Ramasamy said that the online system of filing petitions ( www.vasathi.in ) and use of software to track the status of out-of-school children ( www.back2school.in ) were the first in the State.

Computerised

With all panchayats in the district connected with computers villagers could file their petitions from their home or a nearby panchayat computer.

They could also monitor the status of petitions online.

The team asked the district administration to ensure quality in the ongoing construction of the Integrated New bus stand at Krishnagiri.

The team inspected the quarry of Tamil Nadu Minerals and the granite cutting and polishing unit at Soolamalai run by Self-help groups. It interacted with the group members.

The team inspected the District Sports Stadium on Rayakottai Road near here.

It reviewed the construction of swimming pool, state-of-the art indoor stadium and Officers’ Club.

Watch unit

The committee members inspected the watch and strap-assembling unit of Myrada, a non-governmental organisation, at Mathigiri, near Hosur.

The panel inspected the Rural Call Centre cum Business Process Outsourcing unit at Chanachandiram and District Livestock Farm.

Review meeting

Earlier, the team members held a review meeting at the Collectorate here with officials from all departments.

The District Collector, Santhosh Babu, MLAs T. Senguttuvan, T. Meghanathan and District Revenue Officer V. Mohanraj and heads of departments participated in the meeting.
