Bagchi joins Punchi panel

Amaresh Bagchi

NEW DELHI: Amaresh Bagchi, former director of the National Institute of Public Finances and Policy, has joined the Commission on Centre-State relations as a member. It is headed by the former Chief Justice of India, M. M. Punchi.

The other members are Dhirendra Singh, V.K. Duggal, both former Union Home Secretaries; and N.R. Madhava Menon, legal academician.

The commission will review the working of the existing arrangements between the Union and the States as per the Constitution.

It will keep in view the social and economic developments, particularly over the last two decades, and have due regard for the scheme and framework of the Constitution.
