Puducherry: Activists of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Puducherry unit held a demonstration here on Tuesday urging the Government to initiate steps to bring in a legislation to regulate admission of students into professional colleges and also to procure equal sharing of seats. Party secretary and MLA N. Kalainathan and member of its national council and MLA R. Viswanathan were among those who participated. They took strong exception to the ‘failure of the territorial government’ in ensuring a firm quota of seats for the students sponsored by the government for the professional courses particularly in medical colleges. — Special Correspondent
