Students join the protest on the second day Police urged to provide security to college principal
DHARWAD: Teachers of Karnatak Arts College, Dharwad, continued their agitation for the second day to protest against the assault attempt on the principal of the college allegedly by some Dalit Sangharsha Samiti leaders. The college teachers refrained from taking classes for the second day on Tuesday, demanding action against research student Laxman Dodmani and his associates, who according to them, tried to attack principal S.N. Chachadi in connection with the admission of a few girl students to the hostel. Students also joined the protest on Tuesday under the aegis of Dharwad unit of Vidyarthi Sena. They staged a dharna in front of the college along with the teachers and demanded action against the accused. Amit Sambrani, leader of the sena, alleged that Dalit leader Mr. Dodmani was using his caste to harass people. The sena leaders alleged that the Mr. Dodmani had been indulging in such activities since long and demanded immediate police action against him. The students also urged the police to provide security to Dr. Chachadi. The protesters later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
