Device against tax evasion

Special Correspondent

It can detect password-protected documents

KOCHI: The Pune-based Asian School of Cyber Laws will soon launch a pen drive-like device that will help taxmen to crack the secret information tax evaders hide in their computers.

The device, called CyberStick 64i, has been jointly developed by the ASCL and Data64 of the U.S. It will be a powerful tool for Income Tax, Sales Tax and Excise officials raiding tax evaders, Sreekanth C. Nair of ASCL and Gokul Narayan of Data64 said at a news conference.

The device, however, will not be available for the public. It will be sold only to law enforcing agencies, they said.

It will detect all password-protected documents stored in computers of tax evaders. Computer passwords can also be cracked. It can be used for discloning, tracing e-mails and IP addresses, system analysis, disk seizure and recovery of deleted information.
