Tension in Sirsa district after the incident injuring six Sikhs

CHANDIGARH: There was palpable tension in Sirsa district on Tuesday when a follower of Dera Sacha Sauda reportedly opened fire on six members of the Sikh community in Mallewala village.

According to reports received here at the State headquarters, at least six persons received minor injuries in the shooting incident. They were rushed to hospital where they were stated to be out of danger.

Accused arrested

Senior district officials rushed to the spot along with police reinforcements. The accused, identified as Ajit, was arrested and the weapon was allegedly recovered from him.

According to official sources, the trouble started early in the morning when the Sikhs objected to the Dera followers chanting their prayers in the open in violation of the district administration’s order prohibiting the Dera from holding their prayers in the open.
