Students stage dharna

Correspondent

Kakinada: Students of junior colleges in the city boycotted their classes on Tuesday and staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate demanding filling of all the existing 5,000 lecturer posts and dropping the move on closure of aided colleges. J. Narasimha, PDSU district unit president, while addressing the students at the dharna camp, alleged that a big conspiracy was being hatched to keep away higher education from poor and middle class students.

He demanded that the Government release all the pending scholarships without further delay and increase the scholarship amount in proportion to rising prices.

Later they called on the Collector in a delegation and submitted a memorandum to him.
