Rakesh Rai stars in Rajajinagar Colts’ win

Bangalore: Rakesh Rai’s 103 guided Rajajinagar Colts CA to a six-wicket victory over Chamarajpet CC in a KSCA Group I, third division league match here recently.

Chamarajpet CC scored 180 in 44.2 overs and Rajajinagar Colts CA surpassed the target in 25 overs.

The scores: Group I, second division: Jupiter CA 284 for seven decl. in 51 overs (Madhu 51 n.o., S.P. Mahesh 46) drew with Swastic Union CC (2) 238 for eight in 43 overs (M. Nidish 56, Sanjay Naidu four for 67, B.A. Vinay four for 99); Bangalore Occassionals 214 for four in 55 overs (Siddarth Singh 65, Naresh Reddy 44 n.o.) bt Dooravani Cricketers (1) 201 in 44.2 overs (Madhusudhan 43, Rahul Bhatkal four for 60); Jolly Cricketers 182 in 31.5 overs (Saptha Girish six for 67) drew with Mount Joy CC 75 for five in 35 overs; FUCC (2) 250 for eight in 55 overs (Prashanth Hajeri 92 n.o., Akshay 58) drew with Jaidur Cricketers 194 for eight in 43 overs (Kiran 53).

Ganesh, Vinodh shine

Ganesh Satish’s unbeaten 124 and S. Vinodh’s unbeaten 90 helped President’s XI post 265 for two in 60 overs against Tumkur Zone in a S.A. Srinivasan Memorial under-22 inter-zonal tournament match that commenced here on Tuesday.

The opening day’s play had a delayed start due to overnight rains and wet outfield and later there was also an early closure due to bad light and rain. It was a similar story in the other three matches too as the weather played truant.

The scores: President’s XI 265 for two in 60 overs (Ganesh Satish 124 n.o., S. Vinodh 90 n.o.) vs Tumkur Zone. Shimoga Zone 199 for eight in 53 overs (B.R. Balasubramanyam 52, M. Nidish 49, Salauddin five for 87) vs Mysore Zone. Dharwad Zone 58 for two in 22 overs vs Bangalore Zone. Combined City XI 49 for two in 19 overs vs Mangalore Zone. Nagesh wins title
R. Nagesh of Kumarans’ School clinched the senior section title in the Prakrit Kidzone inter-school chess tournament that concluded here recently. Other winners: Middle school: A. Augustin; Primary School: Arjun Bharat; Junior school: Vasishta.
